Raul and Lula toured Mariel Container Terminal

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, visited the recently opened Mariel Container Terminal on Tuesday morning, accompanied by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers.

Lula and Raúl toured the facilities inaugurated on the occasion of the recent CELAC Summit. The dear friend, promoter of Brazilian participation in this important work for the Cuban economy, received a wide explanation about this port facility and Mariel Special Development Zone, in which a large number of companies have shown interest in establishing themselves.

The Brazilian former president praised the works and said he was happy to be able to participate in this new moment that Cuba is living. In his statements to the Cuban national television news he said he is “proud to witness that Cuba has made a port of that magnitude”.

“Brazil has participated in the collaboration of this new moment in Cuba”, he added. “Raúl Castro has been making bold decisions in the sense of  establishing a great organization and development in Cuba”, he assured to the news.

The occasion was favorable for specialists from Cuba and Brazil to exchange on renewable energies, especially from sugarcane biomass, and to analyze possibilities of collaboration.
