The TCM celebrates its first five years of inauguration

The first user of the Mariel Special Development Zone, the Container Terminal (TCM), arrives five years after its inauguration with high levels of efficiency in its processes, and the goal of continuing its growth.

Since its inauguration on January 27, 2014, the TCM constitutes a key work in the development of the Zone, guaranteeing investors effective connectivity with the world.

Belonging to Almacenes Universales S.A. and managed by the Singapore company PSA Internacional, the terminal operated some 349,000 TEUs in 2018, and has added more than 238 million Cuban pesos to the country since its foundation.

The dredging work carried out in the port will contribute to the development of the terminal, since it will allow the entry of NeoPanamax ships, 366 meters in length.

Currently, the TCM has a 702-meter-long dock and an operating capacity of 800,000 TEUs per year.

In May 2018, the General Customs of the Republic of Cuba granted TCM the certificate that accredits it as an Authorized Economic Operator, based on the quality, safety and efficiency with which it develops its processes.

A privileged location and modern technologies, together with the work of preparing the port, give the TCM sufficient characteristics to become an important international distribution center.
