Devox Caribe, S.A. started its paint production operations

Devox Caribe, S.A. plant, which officially started its operations in Mariel Special Development Zone, uses high technologies for the production of paints and coatings.

Devox Caribe, S.A., a Mexican capital company, in this initial stage produces flexible wall paints, waterproof paints, varnish for wood and floors, and surface preparations, all water-based, with an installed capacity of 15 million liters per year. In a second stage it will also produce solvent paints.

With fully automated processes and state of the art technology, Devox Caribe, S.A. factory, located in Sector A of ZED Mariel, is among the most modern in the region and also outstands for its contribution to environmental sustainability by using various alternatives for saving water and electricity.

A raised platform allows the paint in the tanks to flow into the packing area by gravity without the need for pumps that consume electricity. Besides that, the plant has a translucid solar panels roof which provides light at daytime and generates electricity for some of the facility processes.

Devox Caribe, S.A. benefits from ZED Mariel policies to promote the use of renewable energies, including non-fiscal incentives for companies that use them. Currently, the factory delivers its surplus energy to the national grid and Unión Eléctrica (UNE) pays the same rate it charges for electricity generated from fossil fuels.

On the other hand, the company gradually increases its participation in the production chains in the country and sources some of its raw materials from the domestic market.

Devox Caribe, S.A. is a subsidiary of Mexican Devox-General Paint, which has exported its products to Cuba for 25 years.

The beginning of Devox Caribe, S.A. productions brings to 19 the number of companies already operating in ZED Mariel.
