The first enterprise with Vietnamese capital to establish a venture in ZED Mariel, Thai Binh Global Investment Corporation, this morning opened a factory of disposable diapers and daily protectors, committing itself with the quality of its products and the protection of the environment.

Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of ZED Mariel, Yanet Vázquez Valdés and the Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba and of Thai Binh Group, Orlando Hernández Guillén and Tran Thanh Tu, respectively presided over the ceremony, that evidenced the close links between both nations.

The modern plant of  Thai Binh Global Investment Corporation, located in the Area for Industrial Activities in ZED Mariel, has an annual production capacity of 120 million disposable diapers and 240 million daily protectors.

The productions from this factory in this first stage will be able to supply 70 % of the disposable diapers demand of the Cuban market, contributing significantly to import substitution

For a second stage the enterprise foresees to be ready to supply 100% of the needs of this product in Cuba and export to countries of the area.

The Deputy Director of ZED Mariel highlighted the fact that after the establishment of Thai Binh, the presence of two other ventures with Vietnamese capital have become effective and we will work in order to have a bigger number of companies from that nation in the coming years.

For his part, Trung Thanh stated that with the inauguration of this factory the cooperation relations between Cuba and Vietnam reach another level and highlighted the support of both governments to foster investments in the island.

Vi Nguyen Phuong, Director of Thai Binh, expressed that the enterprise prioritizes the quality of its productions and is committed to the protection of the environment.

As a testimony of its social commitment, Thai Binh also delivered a donation of 200 thousand diapers to the provincial delegation of Education in Havana, for the homes of children without family support.

With over 20 years experience in the commercial activity in Cuba, Thai Binh has opted for availing of the incentives provided by ZED Mariel. After setting up this enterprise for the production of disposable diapers and sanitary napkins, it also invested in a Joint Venture to produce detergents, Suchel TBV, S.A., an expression of the Group’s confidence in the Cuban market.
