For an Eighth Anniversary of Victories

Today is a day of joy and celebration for our group, not only because today the Mariel Special Development Zone reaches its eighth anniversary, but because the largest of the works that we have in this project has just been inaugurated: the CIGB Mariel Biotechnological Industrial Complex , the one with the highest investment amount, fully financed by the Cuban State, the one with the greatest construction complexity, executed by a Cuban State Company: ECM Mariel and the one with the highest technology, which will contribute significantly to the positioning of Cuban Biotechnology worldwide. and the increase in exports of this strategic sector of our economy.

We are accompanied by directors of that company to whom we convey a well-deserved congratulation for the efforts made in the complex investment process to make this result a reality.

We are proud that Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, has inaugurated this prestigious facility, together with the First Secretary of our Communist Party and President of the Republic, as well as other senior leaders of the Party and the Government.

We arrived at this eighth anniversary with a group reinforced by the presence of young people, who have chosen to be part of this high-impact project for the sustainable economic and social development of our country and with concrete results in the development of our Area.

The progress made in these eight years would not have been possible without the participation and support of a group of companies and entities, which are with us today.

Together we have gone through difficult times over the last two years of the pandemic, aggravated by the intensification of the US blockade, and in that period the firm determination to prevent the progress made from being halted has been demonstrated.

We have also been active in defending our political project against the enemy's plans to overthrow the Revolution through a Soft Coup.

This is the attitude that must continue to establish itself as a daily way of acting: overcoming obstacles, perfecting our work and having confidence in our own strength and our own efforts.

I want to refer to messages that the First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic have transmitted to us in the Plenary of the Central Committee and at the closing of the recent session of the National Assembly, which we must bear in mind in our daily work:

"Our development and well-being will have to depend on the effort we make and the intelligence we combine, aware that the cruel economic war of the United States will persist as long as the criminal desire to take over Cuba exists in that country"

“The blockade is not just a punishment for the resistance. It is the daily way of preventing socialism from being associated with growth, progress and prosperity. "

“The dignified response to this undeserved punishment depends only on us. The Revolution was and will be permanently challenged to be exceptional by the capacity of its people to resist and win. "

Today is also a moment of reaffirmation and commitment to be better every day, to demand more of ourselves, aware of the high responsibility we have in achieving the well-being and prosperity that are intrinsic to socialism.

It is also a moment of revolutionary reaffirmation and of showing the enemy that this group and this generation of young people are faithful to the revolutionary legacy of this people and that we continue to be of
